QLaw Foundation Legal Clinic Volunteer Needs

The QLaw Foundation LGBTQ Legal Clinic is looking for new volunteers. The LGBTQ Legal Clinic provides free legal services specifically designed to address the needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals and couples. 

Legal Clinic

The Legal Clinic is expanding its efforts in community education and publicity for the clinic, and we are currently seeking additional members the subcommittees that are responsible for these activities, as well as volunteers for staffing the monthly clinic. The QLaw Foundation LGBTQ Legal Clinic is organized by the QLaw Foundation and is one of the King County Bar Association’s Neighborhood Legal Clinics.

Volunteer Commitment
Volunteers are asked to volunteer once every 6-8 weeks for at least one year. 

Volunteer Positions

  • Volunteer Attorneys
  • Paralegals, Law Students, and Community Members can serve as Clinic Assistants

Education Subcommittee

The education subcommittee is responsible for collecting resources for the legal clinic attorneys and clients.  In addition the subcommittee provides educational outreach to the broader community, including panels about legal issues impacting our community.

Publicity Subcommittee

The publicity subcommittee is responsible for advertising the clinic to ensure that clients are aware of the clinic.  This includes creating a public presence through print and online advertising.  Members of the publicity subcommittee can be attorneys or non-attorneys.  Most of the publicity subcommittee meetings are monthly call-in meetings. 

There are a variety of was to get involved:

  • Join a subcommittee, attend monthly meetings and work on specific projects either updating materials or organizing panels;
  • Attorneys can assist with creating or providing already created materials for the legal clinic; and
  • Attorneys can supervise law students working on research projects for the attorneys and clients
