QLaw Foundation of Washington provides statewide support for civil legal issues through our 2SLGBTQIA+ Legal Support Program. To get started, simply complete our Legal Support Request Form below. This form will help us understand your situation so we can connect you with the most appropriate program(s) or resources to meet your needs.  

FAQ

Each consultation lasts 30 minutes, though we may be able to accommodate longer appointments if needed.  

QLaw Foundation provides support for civil legal matters, including but not limited to:    

  • Discrimination (employment, housing, insurance, education, etc.) 
  • Employment issues 
  • Family Law issues (separation, divorce and custody)  
  • Protecting parental rights, including adoption options  
  • Landlord/Tenant and Housing concerns  
  • Legal name and gender marker changes 
  • Immigration matters 
  • Debt and bankruptcy  
  • Wills and estate planning  
  • Health care access and insurance denials  
  • Disability accommodations  
  • Civil disputes and small claims  

Volunteer attorneys are unable to  

  • Represent clients in court 
  • Advise on criminal legal issues (e.g. arrests, arrest warrants, charges, bail/bonds, trial proceedings etc.)  
  • Assist with non-legal issues (e.g. applying for government benefits) 

Yes! Our legal consultations are conducted over the phone, but we can make alternative arrangements if needed.  

  • We offer interpretation services for most languages, including ASL 
  • If you need disability-related accommodation or do not have a safe space for a phone consultation, please let us know when completing the Legal Support Request Form or contact us here 

Many of our volunteer attorneys are members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. They also receive specialized training on legal issues commonly faced by 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, ensuring a supportive and affirming experience.
